CONSTRUCTION SUPERINTENDENT

EDUCATION REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction-related field preferred; experience may be considered in lieu of education
COMPENSATION : $75,000 +/- depending on experience & education
SUMMARY: Must have extensive knowledge of and experience with on the jobsite activities and challenges found on various types of construction projects. Projects may be renovations or new construction from the ground up, concrete, masonry, steel, and/or wood construction type, end use may be commercial, institutional, or recreational. This individual will be responsible for the daily scheduling and coordination of subcontractors and some material acquisitions. Project documentation such as daily reports, verifying as-built drawings are current, and safety compliance are a daily requirement.
DETAILS : The list below describes some of the required responsibilities;
•Team player, works well with others, communicate with the ABC project manager, client’s representative, architects & engineers
•Safety awareness, quality control, and client satisfaction are this person’s primary goals
•Self- starter, hands-on, knowledge of all trades layout, coordination, communication and organization skills a must.
•Provide direction to trade persons and subcontractors by coordinating plans, specifications, and schedules to ensure quality and on-time completion of work
•Develop, maintain, and enforce project site logistics and temporary facilities plans.
•Assist Preconstruction and project Construction Management team to develop an initial project schedule, then during construction develop & update the 3 week look-ahead schedule.
•Schedule & run weekly subcontractor meetings, review schedules, coordination issues, safety, potential upcoming issues, and changes. Follow-up on all aforementioned.
•Actively participate in Owner/Architect/Contractor meetings.
•Enforce a project site specific safety program for staff and all subcontractors in accordance with ABC policy, OSHA requirements, local, state and federal law. 10 Hr. OSHA training required.
•Possess working knowledge of all project plans, specifications, contracts with Owner, subcontracts, purchase orders, daily correspondence, shop drawings, submittals, and all other project related documents, and maintain a complete and accurate set of as-built drawings.
•Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and understand specifications
•Coordinate and manage all material deliveries for subcontracts and self performed work.
•Perform a qualitative review of all contract documents for potential conflicts or interpretation issues avoiding delays & cost overruns.
•Ensure timely project completion through weekly project scheduling, expediting of material deliveries and awareness of material and document submittals/approvals.
•May be responsible for multiple projects
•Required to inspect the jobsite including climbing ladders, cluttered areas, working in bad weather, hazardous areas, using of Personal Protective Equipment, dark conditions, etc. to view the progress of construction.
•This position may require some hands-on carpentry and/or related work, this is not an office job
•Salary is based on an average 50 hour work week.
