On Sunday, August 24, 2008 employees and family of ABC gathered for the second annual “ABC Family Day”. The event was held on the lawn of the Newport Lodge of Elks at the corner of Bellevue Avenue and Pelham Street in Newport.
The children again enjoyed the bounce house and the games,

The men enjoyed a game of horseshoes while others just enjoyed the time to relax with their co-workers.

Once again, the weather was very cooperative, the food was plentiful

and the company was great.
An addition to this year’s family day was the optional “Admission Fee” of canned and dry goods to be donated to the Martin Luther King Community Center Food Pantry. Also to benefit the Food Pantry, a 50/50 raffle was held with half of the proceeds going to the Food Panty and the other half to one lucky winner – Mike “Lucky” Oliveira.
Thanks again, John, for another great day!
ABC PARTICIPATES IN THE NEWPORT COUNTY YMCA ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT
On Monday, July 21, 2008, John Brooks and eleven ABC employees participated in the 25th Annual Newport County YMCA Golf Tournament. The day included lunch prior to the tournament, 18 holes of golf, then cocktail hour with hors d’oeuvres, dinner, a raffle and an auction held during dinner.
This tournament is held every year to raise money for youth scholarships, that help children who might not otherwise be able to participate in the many programs that the YMCA has to offer such as gymnastics, aquatics, sports programs and “Y” summer camp.

The sun was hot, but they “weathered” it. A good time was had by all, and all for a very worthy cause.
SOFTBALL COOKOUT
To kick off the summer months ABC had a cookout softball game at Braga Park. Everyone enjoyed good food and fun while the kids flew kites and played catch. The cookout was followed by a softball game which was nothing less than entertaining for the players and spectators alike.
