Advanced Building Concepts'
value engineering recommendation to modify
panel-mounting procedures reduced construction
costs and time by 10% on the Gaudet Middle
School wall restoration project. An existing
masonry veneer wall system was demolished;
a new composite metal panel system was installed
with the introduction of windows into exterior
walls to enhance natural lighting in the
school building.
After removal of masonry veneer
the masonry backup wall was found to be
in poor structural condition. In collaboration
with the project architect ABC designed
and installed a steel curtain wall to supplement
the existing back-up wall at no cost change
to the owner.
The three-month project
was completed on schedule in time for a
fall school opening.
